The Fairmount Water Works may be helpful. The interpretive center is in the old water works facility along the river and talks about how it functioned historically as well as current water issues, conservation, the water cycle, trash in sewers and rivers etc. The amazing part about the design is that the facility will actually flood from time to time, sometimes up to 6 feet deep. It was designed so that some exhibits are waterproof, others can be winched to the ceiling, and the computers and monitors are on quick release locks and can be removed before the tidal flood comes.
Hope this helps
