>Trevor and Peter, what are you hearing about N ceranae in Oz?
There have been 2 national surveys conducted, 3 years apart. Last one was
about a year ago.
Nc was not present in Western Australia either time. Trevor can report the
east coast scenario
We have had a serious drought over the past 2 years, especially bad last
year in the south west of the state, whereas the reverse was the problem on
east coast.
Rumour has it that many hive losses and problems were attributed to the
drought here.. Weakened hives failing to build up and thrive has been a
problem for some, but the migratory guys with good trucks and quick off the
mark, managed to find fodder for their bees in remote locations and so kept
up their production.
No evidence that nosema apis contributed to losses in weakened hives here
but it wouldn't surprise me.
