I use Amivar in my colonies.
http://www.apilab.com/en/

Amivar is formed by a totally inert cellulose fiber strip impregnated with
1g of amitraz.

One of the problems is that on some colonies the bees instead of taking the
pieces out of the colonies, they make a sort of cotton ball over the botom
board with the cellulose residues. Most of the time this is not detected by
the beekeeper therefore I was worried about residues in my honey.

Past season I set a group of colonies on which I placed a new strip of
Amivar "while in the flow". I harvest those colonies separatelly and send a
sample to a lab asking for detection of amitraz. They reply no detection. I
call them and said that is impossible. They said, well we detected some but
that was well under the defined MRLs for the European Union.
