I felt 'funny' after just a couple of stings. Shortness of breath, rash and 
 itchy all over, singing in the ears, pounding in the chest so I betook me 
to the  doctor. He sat me down in the corner of the room for half an hour 
while he got  on with some paperwork. As I hadn't collapsed after that time he 
concluded that  it was 'hives' and not impending anaphyllactic shock, gave 
me some  antihistamines and told me to give up beekeeping.
 
That was in 1980 I think.
