Well summarized, Martin!
I definitely recommend watching this show (despite my criticisms).
At a time in my life when I was hanging out with lots of field biologists, I discovered that every researcher's study animal was "a lot smarter than most people think," whether feral pigs, black bears, cichlid fishes, etc. I don't doubt for a second that raccoons are capable of, for example, manipulating a hapless human into turning on the porch lights.
