Colleagues:

We're curious about how you handle photography in your exhibit galleries and public areas. We'd like to step up our efforts to post still photos and video on social networking sites, but we do not want to butt up against issues of privacy. Of course, visitors take their own photos and videos that they post, but if we have a staff member photograph others and post the photos, isn't that a violation of presumed privacy?
How have any of your dealt with this issue? For example, do you post a specific message to all visitors that there is implicit agreement that they may be photographed in your institution's public areas? If so, have you had any complaints?
We're very interested in your thoughts.
