I just looked over Jay Evans recent paper (coauthored with Marla Spivak). In it, they say
> it would be beneficial to allow colonies to construct new wax brood combs yearly to prevent the build up of pathogens and pesticides in the wax, which present a chronic immune challenge to bees.
If we are to believe this, then the best plan would be to get a hold of the cheapest plain foundation you can buy, use it for one year, and melt it down. I am not sure whether anyone on the planet intends to do this, but on a one year rotation any issues of the quality of the foundation or the combs seem beside the point.
