Good data is lacking. Otis determined that the amount of storage proteins
in the bees' bodies was not enough to support sustained winter broodrearing.
I've heard figures for suggested number of combs of pollen going into
winter, but based upon my California experience, they are more than
necessary if there is an early spring pollen flow.
