operation shouldn't they also continue to develop it?

It takes more than just introducing VSH queens into your operation.
Colonies change their queens often. The drones they mate with have to
carry VSH genes if the trait is to continue and be of use in your
apiary. To do that takes years. Doable but not overnight.

I began with VSH in 2004 and now I'm getting pretty good results. I have
all the apiaries in the area but 1, and they have good bees that I want
in my mix. I've been introducing productive daughters of pure VSH queens
into my mating area for the drone source and various vsh and carni
daughters selected for production etc as the breeder queens. I'm looking
forward to the next 5 years to see what happens as the selection process
moves along.
