Years ago we created earth tunnel and river tunnel. In these two portable experiences we used sheet material handling carts to and welded cross members for to hold the carts 4 feet apart. We then covered these with plywood and added a layer of blue styrofoam and carved the foam layer to add depth and texture.. The foam was coated with colored concrete and we then rubbed dirt into the concrete for a more realistic texture. Plants and other details were purchases from Micahels crafts that were hand painted for more detail and then placed in diorama. This teaching tool was used by the local Michagan conservation district as a teaching tool at various schools. The entire build was carried out by a Fabricatror for 20K . In house this could be fabricated for half of that. If your intrested I will post some pictures.
