I would like to understand a little more of what people wear for bee keeping. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about gloves. Some very constructive comments and here am I, never use gloves.
What do people wear normally in the apiary and what is the core practical reason why? ...... is it keeping warm or minimising the number of stings or what ....
I own a veil but have never used it. That is the only item of dedicated bee keeping clothing I have. When I do any work with the bees I am wearing a short sleeved shirt, trousers and slippers or sometimes shoes, never socks. Yes, the bees tease me now and again, I get stung mainly on my fingers. They sometimes fly into me but I guess I am in the way or something ....
Apart from photographs I have never seen anyone wear anything special for bee keeping, so .... what do people really wear and to what extent is this due to having seen photographs of others and the bee supplies companies ambitions?
