In that smoker--- for IPM purposes--- I've used tobacco stems in the  
past but found that, it was too much like smoking cigarettes- I could  
not tolerate it nor could I  discern if it was effective in mite drop.

In one particular bee yard there's mint allaround - I use that to  
smudge on all entrances- just thought it might be beneficial.
