A bit more information is needed, such as the sequence of events.
Way back when, there was a treatment that always worked well because one of
the steps was to test for mite drop by using a proven pesticide. Once you do
that, all bets are off. We know Amitraz works so it is really all that is
needed.
But I may be assuming facts not in evidence, so that is the reason for the
request for more information.
