Mike,
Sometimes it seems that if a virgin is in a hive the bees get a little
testy. I would recommend after removing anything looking like a queen cell,
that you put a slab of brood with plenty of clinging bees -but no queen- in
the hive. Make sure you have some larvae of proper age for growing a queen.
They will probably try to grow a queen cell if it is queenless.Should know
within 3 days.
