As a rule of thumb, the advice to wait 30 days is a good one. More accurate
is 25 days, as has been said. It is not unusual for me to twice set up 50
nucs a day for 2 days (about 30 days apart). I am absolute about not
looking until two weeks have elasped, and even then I only lift a frame high
enough to see eggs/larvae and when I see them I put the frame back down. If
I don't see eggs/larvae I will lift the next frame, etc.
But I prefer to not do even that and if entrance activity looks normal I
leave them for a month. At approximately 30 days I will lift the center
frame and inspect both sides. Then I will go to end frames to be sure queen
has enough room and there is enough food. If not, I take corrective action.
