Hi Garret,
Bob has pretty well nailed it with his answer. If any of the beekeepers
involved do not have any combs with honey, dunking two or three of the
centre combs in warm syrup (use a 5-gallon pail) will get enough sugar to
the initial cluster. This should be done just prior to hiving the packages.
Delivery of feed beyond that point could be just as Bob described. Keep
your fingers crossed for temperatures that will allow bees to take cold
syrup!
