I had few contacts on the island: It seems that high colony kill may be
caused by:
o Over reliance on the efficacy of Apistan. It sounded that varroa is
resistant to Apistan. Therefore, treatment failed. None or few producers
had used Apivar.
o Varroa mite levels were not monitored often enough.
o Last summer was very hot and dry.
o Beekeepers delayed their harvesting to take advantage of late flows
and consequently, delayed treatments.
o samples will be tested for further information.
