In Technopolis we use video surveillance. We also have screens in the exhibition area (close to the camera's ) so that the visitors are well aware that there is a camera, especially in hidden corners we found out that the presence of the camera's reduced unwanted behaviour.

I know this is a controversial topic for many reasons ---

Is anyone out there using video surveillance at their museum for security purposes?

If so, why did you decide to do so and how is it working out for you?
If you have considered it but decided against video, how did you come to that conclusion?

Please feel free to contact me off list, and thanks!
