Thanks to all who replied regarding the Historical Archaeology
books/reports/etc. giveaway.

34 responses were received, most from folks related to CRM firms but also a
number of university labs & libraries, state agencies, and a few historic
forts/parks and centers devoted to research.  Interestingly, about half of
the responses singled out the "gun stuff" .... and most of these were guys
(mmm...!  Anyhow ....).

Again, I tried to select a place where they would be best used, with first
choice usually going to university departments/libraries. When the
selection came down to 2 or more similar places (e.g., CRM firms wanting
the reports for their inhouse research libraries), I quite literally
selected one by random, so as to be as fair as possible.

The selection for where to send the gun stuff was difficult, as several
worthy locales came forward. The results are below.


1. Delaware DOT volumes.  Going to the Archaeology Lab, Dept. of Anth.,
Washington & Lee University, Virginia.

2a. Northeast Historical Archaeology journals. Going to Dept. Sociology &
Anth., University of Idaho, Moscow.

2b. "New England Historical Archaeology. The Dublin Seminar for New England
Folklife Annual Proceedings 1977".  Going to the Maine Historic
Preservation Commission, Augusta, Maine.

3.Guns stuff:

3a. Huntington, R.T. 1987  Accountrements of the United States Infantry,
Riflemen, and Dragoons 1834-1839.
Going to the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Site, Brownsville,
Texas. [The park was established to preserve and interpret the site of the
first battle of the U.S.-Mexican War, and fought May 8, 1846].

3b. Anderson 1963 The Military Arms of Canada    AND   Hamilton, T.M. 1976
Firearms on the Frontier: Guns at Fort Michilimackinac 1715-1781.

Going to the Centre for Battlefield Archaeology, University of Glasgow,
Scotland.

4.  SHA NEWSLETTERS.  Going to Roberta and Associates, Palisades, CA.

5. Journal of Field Archaeology. Going to Texas Univer. Research Lab, Univ.
