The Scotland's Global Impact Conference is a key component of the Highland Homecoming fortnight. Scotland's Global Impact, to be opened by First Minister Alex Salmond and chaired by the BBC's Lesley Riddoch, promises to be exciting, entertaining and educational. <http://f.chtah.com/i/35/2075661984/divider.jpg> Speakers include Professor Eric Richards, Adelaide-based author of the controversial book Patrick Sellar and the Highland Clearances, and award winning Professor Ferenc Szasz, who will travel from the University of New Mexico to discuss the connected lives of Robert Burns and Abraham Lincoln. They'll be joined by battlefield archaeologist Dr Tony Pollard; Professor Graeme Morton, Chair of Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph in Ontario; Professor James Hunter CBE, Director of UHI Centre of History; The University of Aberdeen's Dr Marjory Harper; and singer songwriter Dr Margaret Bennett among many others. This unprecedented event will reveal much about the people of Scotland, exploring why they left their country over many centuries and unravelling the huge impact this small nation has made on the rest of our planet. Scotland's Global Impact takes place at Eden Court Theatre and Culloden Battlefield from Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 October.
