The Maryland State Highway Administration is seeking to fill a senior level archaeologist position in their Baltimore, Maryland office.  The position will be a full time, state position with benefits.  

Description:  The archaeologist will be responsible for overseeing numerous transportation related projects which will require archaeological investigations. Experience in cultural resource management, invoicing, composition of RFPs, and budgeting at the project level is desired.  In addition to clearing transportation projects, the archaeologist will be encouraged to participate in the state highway administration's public outreach program which currently includes research of 18th and 19th century slave owning plantations, African American sites, and initiatives to celebrate the bicentennial of the War of 1812.  Participation in professional conferences and publications are encouraged and supported. No overnight travel will be required. 

The applicant must possess a graduate degree in anthropology or other related field and have at least two years of experience in cultural resource management.

Salary will range between $50,000 and $70,000 per year. Benefits include vacation, sick leave, equipment stipend, health insurance, retirement, and parking allowance.

Closing Date:  Open until filled; however, interviews will be held at the end of October, beginning of November.
