nice metaphorical story, except misplaced utility here to draw the 
bottom line with commercial beekeeping and availablilty of your sunlight,
as it is every consumer that decides every day what will be sustained through
how they choose to spend their money

yes, there are problems, but they are not driven by the beekeepers so 
stop looking there for the solutions you seek.. it will take creative,
willing, and patient minds working collaboratively to resolve the
the issues which deplete bee health and will, in large measure, 
be dependent on raising awareness in the public sector to support.
