At Gormanston the technique is similar the pheromone is attached to the end
of a fishing rod (minimum 15ft and up to 20ft) and a walkabout used to
determine the precise location.
Location along tree lines but also in open where thermals may appear.
I found a DCA on the sand dunes at Derrynane, I was alerted to the location
by loud buzzing but no bee visible on plants, returned with the gear and the
DCA was at the top of the slope of the dunes where it fell off to the sea,
rising winds currents probably made it attractive to the drones.
I received several queer looks at my fishing inland of the shore.

students have used a weather balloon tied to a fishing rod, under which
queen pheromone is suspended.
