The most recent comparison I could find was 2001 data. Total US usage for
that year was 1,203 million pounds which included herbicides, insecticides,
fungicides, and other. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pi180
Of that, home and garden use was 102 million pounds.
http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pi177 and agricultural usage was 675 million
pounds http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pi176.
At the time of the study, comparing 2000 to 2001, agricultural usage was
trending down and home and garden usage was trending up. A more recent
study with 2002 and 2003 data shows agricultural herbicide usage increasing
due to genetically modified crops
