Hello Peter & All,
Well it seems bees might be dying in California because of cell phone
towers. You
can get $150 a hive (and more) from almond pollination but it costs $200 a
hive to keep the bees alive and treated.

. Current offers I am seeing is in the $90 a hive range for top grading but
maybe these guys are getting better offers?

I don't know these guys (even after Peter explains they are
beekeeping experts) but do have problems with what the article says.

So let me get this straight. Nothing about a big die out on the other list
by
California beeks.

First I have heard of a CCD die off.

out of state beeks reporting the best bees in years but no almond contracts
but now we hear CCD is killing thousands of hives in California.

I am going to make some calls and do a post on another list. Will report
back!

Keep us posted Peter! I didn't mean to insult your friends! Still have issue
with the article but I also take issue with the whole CCD thing.

To those which say the out of state beekeepers are only interested in
making a buck i say:

Yes the thought has crossed my mind this might open the door for a place in
almonds for those without a contract yet or to put another way the out of
state beeks will rush to the aid of California beeks and pollinate those
almond trees!

bob
