Dear Chingfan
The Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem is participating in TWIST:
http://www.the-twist-project.eu/he/
Towards Women in Science and Technology, an EU-sponsored project designed to encourage girls to choose Science the Technology as their major subjects. The other partners to this cooperative venture are science museums and organizations throughout Europe (one of them is the King's College in London).
The project partners will develop new activities for the general public and the classroom, along with innovative exhibits for display at science museums-all aimed to raise awareness among young people, their parents and teachers, and the general museum-going public by demonstrating the importance of women's representation in science and technology.
Launch date for the project: International Women's Day, March 8, 2011 in which students (grades 9 and 10) will meet young women scientists and will participate in a provocative discussion about Why are far fewer women than men attracted to science and technology?
Later that day, the general public is invited to participate in workshops and guided tours of museum exhibits that highlight groundbreaking scientific discoveries by women throughout history.
The evening program features a roundtable discussion for educators: "Are Science and Technology Exclusively Male Fields?: Educators and Their Impact on the Choice of These Subjects by Women.".
Other events encouraging girls to choose Science and Technology as their major subjects will be held throughout the year: short films featuring interviews with successful female scientists; an innovative interactive exhibit in which a virtual figure conducts a discussion with visitors on science and gender; and a three-day event for the general public that includes workshops, discussions with female scientists, and lectures on the topic of gender. Over the course of the 2011/12 school year, workshops will be conducted for teachers on methods for encouraging and empowering girls who show interest in science and technology.
Please contact Eti Oron at the Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem for details

Dear all

I am working on a gender studies project which aims to examine and analyse how gender differences and gender related issues are displayed and represented in the context of science centres and museums.
Can anyone recommend any interesting exhibit(ion)s related to this subject?

Great thanks for your time!
