Baling twine does have oil on it - you can actually smell it. This oil
helps to lubricate the feed mechanisms and knotters in the balers. The
twine is also treated with agents to resist mildew and rot and sometimes
a dye for visibility. It's still "all" sisal, but ... its got the
other stuff. The synthetics don't have/need this.
