Regarding bees covering frames...
When at the Madison Lab years ago, the formula I was taught was one bee
covers 2 cells
On a U.S. deep frame there are about 4500 cells (50 x 90) per side
On a U.S. medium frame there are about 2700 cells (30 x 90) per side...
If you look carefully, that coverage is about right...1 bee/two cells.
The cell count varies somewhat by manufacturer and management...I don't
know what the difference would be if using small cell...
