Yes, but they vaporize it, not *burn* it.  Too hot, and it degrades.

Re repeated dribbles, please note my caveat.  That I have only tested
repeated dribbles to see if I could turn around colonies going down from
mites in late summer.  It can do so, and the colonies can survive.  I'm not
saying that it has no negative effect on the colony.  However, informal
observations by myself and some others didn't notice a *substantial*
negative effect.
