>I have noticed that one or two hives at a location do much better than
larger numbers.
I have discussed this with a number of commercial beekeepers. We have found
that by simply reducing the number of colonies in each yard, that the bees
are much healthier and productive, and that a number of problems go away.
Contrast this to an area which I recently visited, in which the flow is so
intense for a few weeks that 600 hives can be placed in a single location,
yet still make truckloads of honey! However, once the flow is over, those
colonies would tear each other up.
