Generally hay fever is caused by wind-pollinated plants and so it seems
unlikely that the particular allergen will be present in the honey the
sufferer eats/ dunks his nose in. The placebo effect is very powerful and may be
part of the answer to why honey is often perceived as a cure for hay fever
but is probably not the whole answer.
Either more research is needed or else we don't need to know and can just
comfort ourselves with the knowledge that 'the customer is always right'.
