Are the edges of the homosote board protected from the rain then?  It seems the homosote board absorbs more water from the rain/snow than the colony.  It probably loses as much water through operation though.

Where do you put the 3/8" cedar piece - in the front, back, one of the sides?

And how big is your reduced entrance at the bottom?
