These general assumptions about an organization as large as WIC are just
one person's observation in her area. There are numerous places where
IBCLCs are part of WIC. And we are working to bring that change to more
areas. The NWA Breastfeeding Committee is preparing information for
local agencies to encourage more IBCLCs. We want this change and it will

Carole, that is excellent and encouraging news. Thank you for your
reply. I know change comes slowly to any large institution such as WIC
but knowing that the program is pointed in the right direction makes it
easier to be patient :-)
I am curious about what you mean by the "recent funding changes" that
can help provide more training for WIC to have IBCLCs. Can you
elaborate? Thank you!
