I question whether there is any evidence for this whatsoever. One could easily view the larval meconium under a scope to confirm.
One could track the patty material by marking it with radio isotopes. One could then identify the location(s) the patty material went by utilizing instruments that would locate its position(s) and the quantity in the position.
