How many hives are in a yard? I have seen conflicting advice on how many
hives to sample. I believe Curry suggess 10%; our provincial bee health
advisor suggests 25%. I used the 25% suggestion this year and was very
surprised by how often there would be just one sample with a lage number of
mites, the rest showing low infestation. I would think a 10% sampling rate
would miss a lot of these situations.
