I have yards where I can only get to them a few times per year.  I'm one of those "5 or 6" kind of beekeepers on these yards.
 
The disadvantage seems to be the bees reluctance to store honey all the way to the top.  Consequently, when I return to check on them, I'll have three good supers, brim full, then two supers above them totally vacant.
 
Which, of course, makes me just a "3 or 4" type of beekeeper.
