I've talked to the beekeeper and will be getting samples. Its hard to say
what's happening without more information. I've seen colonies fail after
almonds - worst case that I've seen was loaded with Nosema ceranae.
Brood signs could be a disease, overheating, and given the situation in CA this
year, I'd look for an excess of brood relative to amount of bees - but
that's a hard call from a telephone conversation.
Hopefully, seeing and analyzing samples will provide an answer. Jerry
