This case was settled and dismissed voluntarily with prejudice [10/17/00],
along with a CONSENT INJUNCTION ORDER: Mayfields are prohibited from
purchasing Monsanto patented seed technology, except YieldGard Corn, for a
period of 5 years from the date of this order [10/18/00]. A non-disclosed
financial settlement was reached.

A more well-know case is the Canadian farmer Perry Schmeiser. According to
Perry Schmeiser's accounting, the countersuit and appeal cost him $200,000.

with what could be called a draw.
He also sued Monsanto in 2005 for clean-up costs of GM canola on his
property which was settled out of court in 2008 for $660.

The largest recorded judgment thus far in favor of Monsanto as a result of a
farmer lawsuit is $3,052,800.00. Total recorded judgments granted to
Monsanto for lawsuits amount to $15,253,602.82. Farmers have paid a mean of
$412,259.54 for cases with recorded judgments.
