Dennis,

The many responses you got are great.  Your own list is fine.  I'd add 
underground speaking tubes with above-ground terminals - several;  the 
users have to find the right pair.  These are used in the many science 
parks in India.  See also Ronen Mir's article in Dimensions March/April 
2003.  Sound would be  good theme.  You could have a dish mounted so 
that people could rotate and point it at the bridges, incline etc - a 
sound telescope.
