Mike,

It is not a quote that I passed on to her. I am sending a copy of this
to Cheryl Lydon, who may know the answer. She also stays in touch with
Dara, so may be able to ask "the source."

Hi Everybody,

I was told an awesome quote on my first day of work at Pacific Science
Center in Seattle that I have carried with me for almost 15 years. I
summed
up very succinctly the philosophy behind science centers and I think
many
other experience driven museums. But I can not for the life of me
remember
who said it or where it was from. So far the interwebs have failed me
in
finding its origin. I am hoping this great quote might spark the memory
of
one of my esteemed colleagues. Here it is.

Playing with clay makes no pots. Playing with clay makes potters.

Dennis Shatz if you are out there this was told to me by Dara Hallman
the
first day of my SEA year. Maybe you passed it on to her.

I have used it many times in the past but never have been able to give
it
the correct attribution. Your collective help in this matter is much
appreciated.

Happy Friday,

Mike
