East of the Rockies where the summers are humid the will be heavy
disease pressure. Also there are many serious insects that will bore
inti the apple such curculio. coddling moth and others.
There are probably organic methods for reducing damage but you will have
to look else ware for help.
Cornell has some scab resistant varieties and may have some organic
controls.
If you have a 5 in 1 grafted tree t it probably has red and golden
delicious, macintosh and a few others all of which are very susceptible
to both insect and disease damage
