The problem is that ClassiCat was as good as there has ever been...
worked well... did everything anyone could want... Then the author
stopped supporting it... Possibly due to slow sales and the hours and
hours of work.
I would pay more to get a working copy of ClassiCat that is updated to
work with Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007 and all the versions of
Microsoft Access.
As it is, we have to start over because the existing old version simply
doesn't work properly.
ClassiCat is based on Access... It was developed using the Access engine.
It is not replaceable by iTunes because ClassiCat and iTunes they serve
vastly different functions. It can be a true Catalog of everything you
own, or everything a Classical radio station might own. And incredible
amount of work was poured into it, but I think most work was done in
Access 97 and some in Access 2000 (just guessing).
There simply are not enough people in need of cataloging to make it pay
as a business into which you can continue to pour money.
It had the potential to become a catalog for all recorded music in CD
and tape... made less relevant by iTunes...
