Hey Cari:
Years ago, early 90's? The Science Place in Dallas got grant money
from the Dental Society to put in some exhibits....know its been
updated since then, but try contacting Paul Vinson there....we had a
silly interactive that was a blue screen v/r where the kids could
chase the anthropomorphized plaque down as they sang a song with
Theodore Toothbrush and his friend Tommy Tooth (of course)...no
evaluation was done, but kids sure liked it....
If I were doing it again? I would have a kid friendly dissecting
microscope (2x-4x) that they could look at all kinds of
teeth.....there is something really fascinating about seeing things
at a larger scale, but not so large that the scale loses meaning.....
One general observation? Its hard to think of exhibits that focus on
positive aspects rather than the gory stuff.....meaning its hard to
not duplicate the message of a dentist that tells you, illustrated in
varying degrees of detail, what is going to happen if you don't brush
and floss....
One thing you don't say is who this is directed towards? Family's?
Elementary age children? Who?
