There is one thing missing in the discussion of the availability of adequate
pollen: the disappearance of idle lands for human development.  

In my region, for instance, Pottawatomie tribe poured cement over a
beautiful alfalfa field-bottomland and transformed it into a large grocery
store (“Firelake”), right next to its Bingo place.  

We used to have a few stands of goldenrods along the shoulders of county
roads, but not any more.  They are gone.  In my decades of beekeeping, I
have never had a fall flow as such, a reason I planted buckwheat to
experiment this year.  

Peter had earlier pointed out how American Midwest used to be clover and
buckwheat belts, but not any more.  I hope this is not the case in the
regions where you all are.
