Jim asks,

I used a cup of powdered sugar last year on a few packages. It took care of
a surprising number of mites. It's not without some effects on the cluster,
however. I think it keeps them from finding their way around. One clump of
leftover bees, left outside the hive, didn't find their way inside and the
cool night killed them. (CT, Mar 30th).
