Hi Paul and all,
We had a great electromagnetic spectrum exhibit at the Science Center of Iowa called "Wavelength Explorer." It was designed by Jeff Kennedy Associates and fabricated by Superior Exhibits. Essentially it was a Pepper's Ghost setup with a computer projection and a heads up display. The projection was of a starfield with blinking markers spaced out (pun intended) here and there. The participant would use a joystick and direct a window like cursor over the starfield until it rested over one of the markers. The marker would then change to an image and detailed graphical/texual info would appear in the heads up display. There were then a series of physical buttons labeled Gamma, X-Ray, Ultraviolet, Visible, Infrared, Microwave and Radio. Upon pressing those buttons the image would change to a corresponding wavelenth if an image was available.
The objects in the starfield were planets, galaxies, nebulae, and even a house in the foreground so you could see those sources in your own home. The exhibit worked well and had a good dwell time. The only downside was lamp life on the projectors.
Of course with your planetarium you could also bring back "Adventures Along the Spectrum..."

Greetings everyone,
Does anyone know of any good (or bad) exhibits that tackle the topic of
the EM spectrum? I imagine that any would most likely be connected to
"space exploration" themed exhibitions, but I would be interested in
knowing about any such exhibits past or present.
Thanks so much!
