The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum has participated in the Detroit Maker Faire (and two mini-fairs) over the last two years. Our display this year was a 40 by 40 foot tent. We still marvel at the response from everyone - including the judges that awarded our team five Maker Awards. We welcomed thousands of people over the weekend. We were jammed from open to close. We revealed GEAKIAC, a wacky innovation exhibit complete with a whimsical computer and mechanical interface. Our Outreach team offered a series of environmental activities designed for children and tweens. We brought prototypes of several simple, table-top and "co-created" types of exhibits. One of our partners provided a station to construct sensor pads and electronic devices. Overall, I think we had twelve team members (staff, partners and volunteers) involved in Maker Faire. I highly recommend participation in Maker Faire. As one might imagine, we would be very interested in participating in a session.
