Back in July I posted some information on a creationism seminar that I
attended. The speaker was Dr. Brad Harrub.
Interest was expressed at that time in the subject matter. More recently
additional interest in the subject matter was again expressed.
Starting in July I attempted to get the recordings of the seminar. I have
finally succeeded and am posting the recordings for anyone wishing to listen
to them.
The seminar was conducted in two parts. Each being slightly over one hour
long. Part 1 and part 2 are each available as separate files in MP3 format
at:
http://cid-511facbc71d1cd1b.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public/Creation
Click on the individual icon and an option is presented to download the
selected file.
Part 2 has some minor clipping on the file. I am confident that this was
due to errors in the recording process and was not an attempt to delete any
embarrassing comments. For example, the initial starting comments of part 2
did not make it into the file.
Near the end of part 2 (55:00) Dr. Harrub opened the floor for audience
questions. I responded first with a question about an alleged fossil of a
fishing reel. The first part of my question was clipped - probably due to
me not being close enough to the microphone. Dr. Harrub acknowledged my
question and actually presented a picture of the "fossilized fishing reel".
The picture depicted a rock with a strange protuberance that looked more
like a deformed finger than a fishing reel. I was unable make out a fishing
reel in the picture and Dr. Harrub did not explain his rationale. Those
around me later told me that they could not understand the connection
either.
To me this seminar was scary. To a certain extent it explains why the
United States is falling behind other developed countries in the educational
level of the children. I did not get a feel of how well the audience
(probably close to 200 attendees) accepted Dr. Harrub's presentation but I
have seen recent polls showing that a very large percentage of the
population totally reject Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.
