This is from my colleague, who is an architect and works with  
architects on all of our projects who have one.


We concept, design and build interactive environments (e.g. science  
centers and children's museums) so these considerations may not  
directly translate to their world.

If there is the opportunity to bring the exhibition design team on  
board early do it.  When the architecture and exhibition are developed  
in tandem they begin to respond to each other and the result is a  
richer envirnmental experience for the visitors.

There are also several practical advantages:
The exhibition infrastructure can begin to take shape in the DD phase  
which will bring attention to possible conflicts with the building.
If the exhibition infrastructure is developed early on it can be  
costed during the CD phase, modified as needed and be included in the  
base building cost.  This avoids costly upchages later on.

Consider how the exhibition will be installed.  Large enough that a  
loading dock is necessary?  Doorways and pathways adaquate to get  
exhibition components to their location?

Acoustic dampening and sound control.  Nothing drives parents away  
like an uncomfortably noisy area.

Don't specify too many different lighting fixtures and lamps.  The  
organization may not be able to afford to stock a large number of  
different lamps.

Sight lines are another important consideration.
