Canadian Association of Science Centres
Annual Conference
Hosted by: Montréal Science Centre
Montréal, Québec, May 5-7, 2010

Audacity
Science is definitely a field where daring can be given free reign. Many
crazy and revolutionary ideas have crystallized into real projects thanks
to bold creators who believed in their ideas. Science museums and similar
organisations can also take pride in taking a bold approach in their
operations, programming and even funding. Come exercise your creativity
and see what your peers are doing.

Daring to change
Challenged current methods? Dared to try new ways? Whether in developing
an exhibition, a program or a business plan, have you left the beaten path
to try a new approach? We want to hear your story.

The Audacity of being small
Museums that are smaller or located in remote areas must sometimes be bold
to reach their objectives. How do you go about astonishing and realizing
your dreams and ambitions? What means or unusual associations have you put
into place to achieve bold results?

Being bold in business
Bold advertising. Risky associations. What daring steps have you taken for
attracting fickle customers? How do you stand out in an ocean of
advertising and social networks open to everyone? What’s new in material
and exhibit design and fabrication? What has changed in the last year?

Daring in fund development
Have you presented daring projects on risky or controversial topics? Have
you dealt with hot topics? Have you developed programs to target specific,
difficult-to-attract customers? How were they received by your
organization and by the community at large?

About the Conference
The CASC annual conference includes a pre-conference behind-the scenes
tour, an inspiring keynote speaker, two days of concurrent sessions and
workshops, plus a tradeshow and our National Awards Gala. All events are
geared towards facilitating practical innovations in the development,
delivery, and support of science engagement activities. Individuals from
science centres, museums, nature centres, planetariums, outreach
organisations and schools are all welcome to join us!
